Everything was exceptional, fast stuff, excellent views of the ocean. What I loved was the fairly quiet room with generous breakfast. That hotel was in a stunning and awesome location, hard to find everything. Dined at Senses Restaurant, it was just a short walk away from the venue. Poolside bar was good and reasonably priced.

Property is new, clean, and spacious and in a great location. Food in the restaurant was good. The rooms are a great size and we liked the neutral decor and the outside table. The gym is well-equipped but has only one running machine - which could be a problem if the hotel were fully occupied.
This is a new resort and other people have mentioned teething problems. The following are all relatively minor issues and management say they are fixing (or have fixed them). The sauna is great, but doesn't stay hot enough (despite me tipping all [gradually!] of a bucket of water onto the heater to generate more steam). Toiletries were provided on the first day (good). Some of these ran out during the week and others were removed by the cleaners - not sure why. When we asked for more we were told that they were only provided at the beginning of the stay - however Reception did then find us some more (good, but not sure why they couldn't have just got them for us rather than telling us rules which didn't actually apply).. The shower looks great, but whatever you do, you end up with the floor covered in water. The basin in the bathroom also looks good, but the angle of the tap means also that it's very easy to drench yourself and the floor. Dishwasher - good idea and a nice surprise, but you can't economically use it because there is not enough crockery and cutlery to fill it (and in any case, only one dishwasher tab was provided). Lovely stainless steel tea-pot - but impossible to pour. There was a new steam iron, but no ironing board. Likewise a dustpan but no brush. Towels were changed probably more frequently than necessary. We also had one day when towels were taken away by the cleaners and not replaced (until we asked late in the evening on our return to the resort). Storage space is skimpy for 2 people.

Great rooms with lots of space for families, and easy walk to the beach
Wish there would be more beach supplies that could be communal for those traveling

A beautiful hotel. Great size room, very high spec fittings. Great views of the beach and sea (beach only 2 mins away). Loads of sunbeds - quiet by the pool, non-one had to reserve sunbeds with towels, so very relaxing in the mornings. Lovely restaurant with good, great quality food.
The only thing missing was something to do for older children. Our two boys were 13 and 10, & got a little bit bored. A couple of pool tables and table tennis tables would have made this hotel perfect!

Spacious apartments with modern amenities, beautiful beachfront dining options, variety of swimming pools
The pool temperature was disappointingly cold!!! The towel exchange policy is absurdly restrictive!!!

The Belmar was one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. I was in a group of 4 females (25-29) and all of us enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The hotel was excellent, the pools were wonderful. It was clean, the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The food in the restaurant was absolutely divine. It was so quiet when we stayed which we enjoyed and loved the proximity to and the actual beach. We are all definitely going to return and have recommended the hotel to all of our friends/family.

Staff are very friendly, the resort is beautiful. Room is big and comfortable. Only the location is little far from the city. However the view is out weight the location. Will come back again

Our apartment was very spacious and well equipped with a view of the beach, which is a stone throw away. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant served good food and the breakfast buffet offered all we needed. A car is needed to move around the area and to get to the town, specially with small children. We enjoyed our stay.
The hotel just opened and we were one of the first guests. Many of the room appliances were not working, although were eventually fixed after complaining.

Spacious apartments with great kitchen amenities and easy access to the beach. The outdoor pools can be too cold for swimming. We enjoyed the hiking nearby, and the staff was attentive.

Everything about the resort was amazing. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The grounds and pools are beautiful. Room was very large, stylish and well appointed. A highlight was the Spa, specifically Eye Recovery treatment ... Amazing!
We have absolutely no complaints about the hotel. We had a hire car which was very convenient as the hotel is in Porto de Mos which is a distance from Lagos town (a positive in our minds). Having a car also meant we could travel inland or to other beaches or shopping centers.

We stayed at the Belmar Spa and Beach Resort in September 2011 and it was a fantastic holiday!! The apartments were of a high standard and quality which were kept clean throughout our stay. The spa facilities were excellent and were extremely relaxing! Just what we needed! The staff were very friendly and helped us plan our trip just the way we wanted. The only downside about the resort is that it is situated on a steep high so be prepared to use your legs, especially with a pram. We however hired a car which we used to get into the centre in the day and then a taxi at night.
